A Tribe Called Quest est un groupe de hip hop américain formé en 1988 à Queens, New York. Composé de Q-Tip (MC), Phife Dawg (MC) et Ali Shaheed Muhammad (producteur), le groupe a sorti cinq albums studio, dont les trois premiers ont été acclamés par la critique et ont eu une influence significative sur la scène hip hop des années 1990. Leur album de début, *People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm* (1990), n'a pas connu un succès commercial immédiat et a reçu des critiques mitigées.
