Here I stand at the banks where the river of time feeds the sea
Oh, I delve into the vault
Of my mind, a memory
When a heart full of trust had not yet waned to a weak
Paling crescent in the sky
Pouring down its fading beam
I stand here all alone
I came here on my own
To reignite the inner blaze
Against the wind, against the grain
Open visor - arrows rain
I'm me and I do it my way
Don't you tell me what to be
Through my eyes you cannot see
I'm me and I'm going my way
Against the wind I'm going my way
I've been out for the grail they contest with hubris and hate
I've seen scarily faceless things
Where they scream, but never hear
Scraggy fingers they scratch over maps with all kingdoms displayed
The enticer never sleeps
Breathing doubt into your ear
I stand here all alone
I came here on my own
And you will not take hold on my creed
Against the wind, against the grain
Open visor - arrows rain
I'm me and I do it my way
Don't you tell me what to be
Through my eyes you cannot see
I am me and I'm going my way
Against the wind I'm going my way
And if you don't like what I do
Then it's not made for you
And if you get exasperated
With what I will, or I may, or I say - it's my way!
A thousand stars melt with the sea
Elysian fields reveal to me
This is the air I need to breathe - oh!
Against the wind, against the grain
Open visor - arrows rain
I am me and I do it my way
Don't you tell me what to be
Through my eyes you cannot see
I'm me and I'm going my way
Against the wind I'm going my way
Le texte musical AGAINST THE WIND de AVANTASIA est également présent dans l'album Here be dragons (2025)
Tra i brani più rappresentativi si possono citare *The Great Mystery*, *Dying For An Angel* e *Starlight*.
