Michael John Cloete Crawford Rutherford, noto semplicemente come Mike Rutherford, è un musicista britannico nato il 2 ottobre 1950. È un polistrumentista eclettico, principalmente noto per la sua abilità con la chitarra basso e la chitarra acustica. Rutherford è uno dei membri fondatori dei Genesis, leggendaria band progressive rock che ha raggiunto fama mondiale negli anni '70 e '80. Con i Genesis, Rutherford ha contribuito a definire il sound progressivo con album iconici come "Selling England by the Pound", "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" e "Duke". Dopo lo scioglimento dei Genesis, nel 1985 ha formato Mike + The Mechanics, un gruppo che ha ottenuto successo internazionale con brani come "The Living Years" e "Over My Shoulder".
