The Fiery Furnaces sono stati un duo indie rock statunitense formatosi a Brooklyn nel 2000. Composto dai fratelli Matthew e Eleanor Friedberger, il gruppo ha pubblicato sette album in studio tra il 2003 e il 2011, caratterizzati da testi poetici e melodie intricate che mescolavano influenze folk, psichedeliche e pop. La loro musica era spesso descritta come un'esperienza sonora unica e coinvolgente, con arrangiamenti complessi e una forte componente teatrale. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "The Ballad of the Great American Novel", "Tropical Sunset" e "My Sister".
