Fredro Starr, de son vrai nom Fredro Scruggs, est un rappeur et acteur américain né à Brooklyn, New York, en 1970. Il est surtout connu comme membre du groupe de hip hop Onyx, actif depuis 1988. Avec son style de rap agressif et ses rimes tranchantes, Starr a contribué à définir le hardcore hip hop des années 90. Onyx a sorti plusieurs albums à succès, dont "Bacdafucup" (1993) et "Shut 'Em Down" (1995), qui ont atteint le top 10 des classements Billboard. Starr a également collaboré avec des artistes comme Snoop Dogg et Wu-Tang Clan. Outre la musique, Fredro Starr a joué dans plusieurs films et séries télévisées, notamment "Belly" (1998) et "The Wire" (2002). J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
