La New Power Generation (NPG) était le groupe de soutien du musicien américain Prince de 1990 à 2013. Fondée par Prince lui-même, le groupe a fait ses débuts officiels sur l'album *Diamonds and Pearls* en 1991. Le nom vient d'une chanson de l'album *Graffiti Bridge* (1990), mais il était déjà présent dans la phrase "Welcome to the new power generation" figurant dans la chanson principale de *Lovesexy* (1988). La NPG se caractérisait par un son funk et soul contemporain, avec des influences jazz et R and B. Parmi les membres les plus connus figuraient Sheila E., Morris Day et Wendy and Lisa. Le groupe a accompagné Prince lors de nombreuses tournées mondiales et a collaboré à la réalisation de nombreux albums à succès, notamment *Love Symbol Album* (1992), *The Gold Experience* (1995) et *Chaos and Disorder* (1996). Parmi les titres représentatifs figurent "Diamonds and Pearls", "Gett Off" et "Cream".

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
