Les Swollen Members sont un groupe de hip hop canadien formé à Vancouver en 1992. Composé de Madchild (Shane Bunting) et Prevail (Jason G. Smith), le duo a gagné en popularité grâce à ses rimes complexes, ses paroles introspectives et sa production sonore sombre et agressive. Considérés comme l'un des groupes de hip hop les plus influents du Canada, ils ont publié de nombreux albums à succès, notamment « Black Magic » (2001) et « The Rise and Fall of the Swollen Members » (2005). Leurs chansons représentatives incluent « The One », « I'm Not a Rapper » et « My Life ». La musique des Swollen Members se caractérise par un son heavy metal influencé par le grunge, qui se mélange à des éléments de hip hop traditionnel. C'était le 5 avril 1980 quand un groupe inconnu et sans nom a joué dans une église désacralisée de la ville universitaire d'Athens en Géorgie. À peine deux semaines plus tard, ils ont choisi un nom R.E.M. , et ilt ont sortiun single et en 1983 un album "Murmur".
Avec 7 albums à leur actif, le groupe est une source d'inspiration et de créativité au niveau mondial, au cours de ces 20 années il n'a cessé d'influencer le paysage musical et de créer des tendances.

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
